Mr. Butler is responsible for the firm’s west coast operations and is a member of its Investment Committee. Prior to joining Argosy, he was Vice President and head of the San Francisco office for the real estate group of J.P. Morgan Investment Management, where he had responsibility for origination and execution of real estate private equity investments in the western United States. Mr. Butler joined JPM from AIG Global Real Estate, a global opportunistic real estate private equity investor, where he was a Vice President specializing in urban mixed-use, brownfield, residential, master-planned community and medical office development. Previously, Mr. Butler worked for Trammell Crow Company on the formation of a REIT focused on the acquisition and development of medical office buildings. Prior to that, he was a co-founder of Riverside Capital Partners, where he identified, analyzed and structured a potential privatization of a public office REIT. Mr. Butler started his career in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Robertson Stephens, a subsidiary of both FleetBoston Financial and Bank of America. Mr. Butler has 17 years of direct real estate experience, closing over $4 billion of real estate transactions. Mr. Butler holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Stanford University.
